You have two alternatives when it comes to teeth whitening: at-home care or in-office teeth bleaching. Both methods of teeth whitening make use of bleaching chemicals based on peroxide. Between 3% and 20% peroxide (carbamide or hydrogen peroxides) is present in at-home systems. Peroxide content in office systems ranges from 15% to 43%. In general, teeth become whiter the longer you leave a stronger solution on them. However, the lengthier the time the whitening solution is left on the teeth, the larger the proportion of peroxide it contains. The tooth will get more sensitive and dry out if the gel is left on for an extended period of time. There are advantages and disadvantages to each choice, so be careful to see your dentist before using at-home tooth-bleaching kits. Not everybody will experience success. Pottery crowns won't become whiter after bleaching.
